Customize your camp experience by picking your own events to enjoy during scheduled activity times, or at your leisure throughout the week! Whether you choose to schedule a trail ride, compete in a tournament, watch a game of pickleball, or play with our Family Camp Orchestra, the possibilities are endless.

Archery

Sharpen your aim! Bows and arrows can teach us much about staying on target, precision, and focus. Without Christ, we will fall short and miss the mark. Hone your skill and spiritual focus at this epic camp activity. All targets and equipment provided.

Volleyball

Volleyball is one of the biggest highlights of Family Camp. Play in the Sports Complex throughout the week, or teams can join our Sand Volleyball Tournaments for some extra competition.* Please respect our Dress Code.

*Please note that our Volleyball Tournament requires pre-made teams. You are unable to sign up as an individual. If you don’t have a team this year, no worries! There are still plenty of opportunities to play volleyball outside of the Tournament!

Lake Loma

Get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy some relaxation on Lake Loma! Canoes and kayaks are available. Open every day from sunrise to sunset. Life jackets must be worn, and an adult must accompany children.

No swimming, please. 

For fishing, please bring your own tackle. You are welcome to keep any fish 12 inches or less, but please release any fish of greater length.

Consider joining our Fishing Tournament and qualify for Friday’s Lakeday Canoe Races (see Canoe Races under Tournaments).

Sports Complex

As the hub for fellowship and a hangout for the entire family, our Sports Complex hosts volleyball, basketball, bear ball, pickleball, ping pong, foosball, nine-square, carpetball, spikeball, a cozy coffee shop, board games, and more!

  • Please respect Sports Complex Hosts and other guests.
  • Return all sports equipment/games to the appropriate places and pick up trash.
  • All children ages eight and under must be accompanied by an adult.
  • No climbing/hanging on sports equipment, pods, or restricted areas.
  • No frisbees, wheels (besides strollers), additional sports equipment, or guest music may be brought into the Sports Complex.
  • Please respect the dress code: Loose-fitting clothing that covers the full torso and thighs, even during active play. No sleeveless tops, spandex, or other fitted clothing. Shoes must be worn at all times.

9:00 AM–5:00 PM and after Camp Meetings until 11:00 PM, unless otherwise stated.

Enjoy the beautifully cozy atmosphere of our Sports Complex Coffee Shop, the Ponderosa Press! You’ll love the variety of delicious snacks, drinks, and baked goods available.

Ponderosa Playground

Our campground park features swings, monkey bars, slides, and a giant sandbox. Parental supervision is required.

Hike and Bike

Take a picnic and enjoy time exploring the campus with your friends and family in the great outdoors, but be sure to check out our rugged lake trails on foot!

Hiking areas include the wilderness landscape of the bluffs southeast of the campground and the breathtaking trails north of Lake Loma.

On-campus bike rentals are not available.

Disc Golf

Give our exciting 18-hole Disc Golf Course a whirl! Grab a score at Hole One and let the fun begin. Discs are available for sign-out at the Camp Office, or you’re welcome to bring your own!

Horseshoes

Try your aim at this old-fashioned classic! Horseshoe pits and equipment are located in the campground.

Kids' Story Time

Children and their parents are invited to join us for special sessions to learn about the gospel and biblical character. Children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult.

Scripture Assembly

Help assemble portions of John & Romans for Gospel outreach in other countries! You will help cut, staple, and collate these Scriptures to be sent overseas. This family project is suitable for ages 10+. A parent must accompany those under 12.

Location: John & Romans Building
Saturday & Sunday, 1:00–4:30 PM
and during Activity Time.

Camp Orchestra

Join the Family Camp Orchestra during Camp Meetings! Rehearsals and preludes begin 30 minutes before each indoor meeting. Bring your instrument and join in! Basic proficiency on your instrument is required. The ability to sight-read from the hymnal is helpful.

$ Blacksmithing

Learn hands-on techniques in metalworking and create your own project to take home!

Options include a knife, shepherd’s hook, feather hook, or dinner bell. Each project requires two participants, with at least one person age 17 or older. Closed-toe shoes are required.

Cost: $20 per project. Tickets are available at the Camp Office, and proceeds benefit the Scripture Assembly Project and Distribution.

$✎ Plane Rides

Experience a thrilling takeoff and scenic adventure over the International ALERT Academy! Weather permitting, rides are approximately 15 minutes.

A paying adult must accompany children under 12 (legal guardians must sign waivers for anyone under 18).

Sign-up at the Camp Office.
Cost $30/person.

$✎ Trail Rides

Horse lovers ages 8 and up are invited! The full experience lasts about one hour, including check-in and mounting. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time to check in (rides will not be held for late arrivals). Children under 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult at check-in to assist with mounting. All riders must have a waiver signed by an adult.

Riders are required to wear boots or tennis shoes. Long shorts or leggings should be worn under skirts. For safety reasons, pregnant riders are not permitted. Our trail guide reserves the right to hand-lead any rider who is unable to manage their horse. Double riding is not allowed; however, riders ages 4–5 may ride with the guide in a special buddy seat for an additional $15 (limit one per ride).

Those 13+ are welcome to help tend the horses at 7 AM—check in with Lena!

Tournaments

Enjoy friendly, Family Camp competition for all skill-levels! With the exception of the Fishing Tournament, all tournament participants must be registered for the whole week of Family Camp and require the activity wristband.

Linked are our current Tournament Guidelines. A team consists of 5-10 players, ages 14+, with a minimum of 2 females. Matches will be held throughout the week.*

Team captains are required to attend the Tournament Meeting, Sunday, October 11, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel Fellowship Hall.

*Please note that the Volleyball Tournament will run alongside Trades Day, Tuesday morning of camp. While we’re unable to adjust game brackets for participants in both, matches typically last 30–45 minutes, allowing time to visit Trades Day between games.

✎ Ultimate Frisbee
Gather your friends and try your teamwork, accuracy, and endurance in this competitive sport!

Linked are our current Tournament Guidelines. A team consists of 7-14 players, ages 12+, with a minimum of 2 females.  Team captains are required to attend the tournament meeting on Sunday, October 5, at 1:45 PM in the Chapel.

If you don’t have a team, participation isn’t guaranteed, but you’re welcome to attend the tournament meeting to see if an extra team can be formed.

Games will be played Monday–Thursday evening on the Sports Field.

Fishing Tournament

Everyone is invited to join us for a beautiful morning of fishing and fellowship!

Canoe Races

Qualify for Friday’s Lakeday Canoe Races on your own throughout the week! Course details posted on the lifejacket hut at the lakefront. Track your own time and record at alertfamilycamp.com/canoe.

Qualifying deadline: Thursday, end of day.

Racing categories include Father/Son, Mother/Son, Father/Daughter, Mother/Daughter, Ladies 12 and under, Ladies 12+, Men 12 and under, Men 12+, Family (any combination), Brother/Sister, and Couples.

Qualifiers will race on Friday afternoon at Lakeday!

Trades Day

Trades Day is a time to “bring your goods to market” and enjoy buying and selling your handmade and homemade specialties with other Family Campers!

IMPORTANT DETAILS
– Trades Day is Tuesday, October 13, from 9:00–12:30 PM.
– Set up opens by 8:00 AM. (No earlier.)
– Park any unused vehicles in the Chapel Parking Lot by 8:30 AM.
– Trades Day has no electrical access. Please bring your own generator if you need it.
– Tables can be reserved from the Camp Office for $15 and will be set up on-site before you arrive. (Limited availability!)
